Textures[]

  • In the files of the app, there are some progression textures which can be found in the "drawable-hdpi-v4" folder. The said textures bear a strong resemblance to the song levels (which gives Mojo Coins and avatars in-game), as there are some images named "progress_current_(1 to 3)/progress_done.png", which can possibly mean that the textures were for an early version of the song level feature.
  • Also, there are some other textures that include "quest" in their filenames. These, of course, are unused as well.

Avatars and Interface[]

Pre-October 2015 version[]

  • While the app was still in Beta, the game was going to use the avatars from Just Dance 2014; however, when the app was officially released, they were replaced with Just Dance 2015’s avatars.
  • In the Beta version of the menu, there was a line of text under the "PLAY" button reading: "View all songs" and tapping on it would bring up the tracklist. However, ever since the official release, the line of text was removed and there is now a pink corner at the top-left corner of the screen showing the amount of songs there are in the game, and a line of text on there reads: "VIEW SONG LIST".
  • In the Beta version of the menu, one of the unknown dancers for Just Dance 2014 (the one with the red, white, and blue spiky jacket) and Starships appeared at the sides of the screen. However, in the first official release, they have been replaced by the coach from You Make Me Feel... and P1 from Turn Up the Love.
  • In the launch trailer, the following graphical differences can be seen:
    • The player’s high score is placed on the left of the menu icon and not on the right (unlike in the first official release).
    • The player’s user name is written in the "Just Dance Regular" font rather than in the "Just Dance Bold" font.
    • The song title and the artist’s name are not displayed.
    • The statistics for each song are shown on three rectangles (a green one and a yellow one above a light blue one).

June 2017 update[]

  • According to the teaser that plays in the menu of the June 2017 update, the menu icons did not have the white border with curved angles that is used in the final version.

August 2020 update[]

  • In the earliest version, which was discovered around April 8, 2020, the following differences could be noticed.
    • The main menu was almost identical to the previous one (except for the colors, which were in shades of blue and purple, and the "TRY FOR FREE!" button, which was in shades of blue and green).
    • The previous fonts were used instead of the new ones.
      • However, the font used for the song titles was slightly different.
    • The QR code had a different border.
    • The icons for the Playlists and Songs menus were separated by a different border.
    • The rectangle that displayed "Connect your smartphone to play!" was entirely purple.
    • Playlists were displayed in rows consisting of three items.
    • Playlist covers had more rounded corners and no overlapped silhouettes behind.
      • Besides, "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme ABBA!" could be seen in spite of it not being featured in the final menu.
    • The yellow button with the backwards arrow was replaced by a grey X with a grey circle.
    • The playlist duration was displayed above the description.
    • Menu icons were displayed in rows consisting of four items, and their borders were more rounded.
    • When a menu icon was selected, the song title and artist’s name were displayed in the "Just Dance Bold" font, and the former was light blue.
      • Moreover, the two strings of code were shown below the preview rather than above.
    • Statistics and the "Dance!" button were entirely fuchsia, without gradients.
  • During the first half of April 2020, the "Fitness" playlist was moved before "Recommended For You", and a new playlist called "SUPER MIX!", which accidentally used the cover for "Extreme", could be seen before "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme ABBA!".

Playlists[]

  • An unreleased playlist titled "SUPER JAM!" was found in a promotional material for the service, with Con Altura, Talk and Fit But You Know It as part of the confirmed songs.

Songs[]

Songs in the launch trailer[]

ABBA: You Can Dance songs[]

  • The routines from ABBA: You Can Dance did not have the "ABBA" prefix in their code names at first.

  • As seen in the server files, the coach seems to be more similar to his original look in Just Dance 3.

All About That Bass[]

  • All About That Bass had a different cover in its first release in the files.

Baby One More Time[]

  • Two unused pictograms for the remake can be found in the old servers.

Barbie Girl[]

Barbra Streisand[]

  • In the initial version of the remake, the original song was used instead of the 2019 Edit.
    • Besides, the pictograms were reused from Just Dance 3, although their props were recolored from magenta to purple and an additional pictogram in the style of Just Dance 2016 was added. Also, two old pictograms had Just Dance 4-styled arrows in spite of the main model remaining the same.
  • In the old game servers, the score tracking files were all reused from Just Dance 3[2]; in the finalized version of the map, however, the number of counted moves has been reduced.

Better When I’m Dancin’[]

  • The coach is different in Just Dance Now. Her hair is a darker shade of blue.
  • Additionally, the purple flowers that at one point appear in the background of the Just Dance Unlimited version are replaced by butterflies.

Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)[]

  • In the old servers, there are three placeholder pictograms that were meant to be starting points for remade ones.

Black Widow[]

  • When Black Widow was uploaded to the old servers, the pictograms[3] and lyrics hexadecimal[4] were retained from Just Dance 2015; after the release in Just Dance Unlimited, however, the new pictograms and lyrics hexadecimal were used.
    • Additionally, the new .json file reads "2016" in the "JDVersion" string, implying that further updates had already been applied to the map upon the release of Just Dance Unlimited.[5]
  • In the cover, the coach was originally placed on the left, and the background was blurrier.

Blurred Lines (Fanmade Version)[]

  • The menu square originally did not have a border.

Body Movin’[]

  • Body Movin’ (Fatboy Slim Remix) had more visible facial features and a blue-black outline (instead of a purple one), but these details got changed later on.
  • In the pictograms sprite, it can be seen that the renewed version of Gold Move 3 was not intended to be a Gold Move at first.

Born To Be Wild[]

  • In the old servers, the files of the map from Just Dance 2 were used; however, upon its final release, they were replaced by the updated files from Just Dance Unlimited.

Call Me[]

  • The coach for the Beta remake of Call Me had dark blue make-up on her face.
    • Also, the background was dark blue rather than pink.

Can’t Get Enough[]

  • An early pictograms sprite with seven placeholders can be found in the Beta servers.

Can’t Get You Out of My Head[]

  • When the remake of Can’t Get You Out of My Head was first uploaded to the old game servers, the preview audio started at the beginning of the song, and it was completely silent until six seconds in.
    • As of an unknown date, however, it has been updated in order to make it start at the first chorus.

Can’t Hold Us[]

  • When the map was first uploaded to the old servers, the original pictograms[6] Gold Moves[7], and score tracking files were used; however, in the final release, the updated files from Just Dance Unlimited were used.

  • According to some unused menu assets, the remade coach initially had a slightly darker color scheme and a more visible face.

  • When Dark Horse was first uploaded to the old servers, the original pictograms were used; however, upon its final release in the game, the updated pictograms from Just Dance Unlimited were used instead.
    • The song description file reads ""JDVersion": 2016", implying that changes had already been planned upon the launch of Just Dance Unlimited.[8]

Diamonds []

  • A beta cover, using the album coach pose instead of the one from the menu icon, was found in the game files.

E.T.[]

  • When E.T. was first uploaded to the old game servers, the original pictograms were used; however, at the addition of the URL number 20150408_1230, the pictograms were completely remade and had different colors (purple with yellow props instead of dark violet with green props).
  • E.T. originally had a different menu cover, where the coach was placed on the left and not in the middle.

Feel So Right[]

  • The pictogram sprite that can be found in the Beta servers does not feature the Beta pictogram.

Fine China[]

  • When Just Dance Now was first launched, some files of the routine were meant to receive updates, as proven by the "JDVersion" string of the .json file, which reads "2015" instead of "5".[9] However, those files were renewed again, changing the "JDVersion" to "2016".[10]

Firework[]

  • In the files, there is a beta coach selection image where the coach has a less visible face and her legs accidentally fade out, revealing part of the chroma key.
    • There is also a Beta cover, in which the background is more zoomed in and the coach is slightly rotated.

Forget You[]

  • When the files of Forget You were first uploaded to the old game servers, the original pictograms were used and the lyrics were red (which is the placeholder color for lyrics); however, upon the final release of the map, the pictograms and the lyrics color were retained from Just Dance Unlimited.

Gangnam Style[]

  • In a promotional picture shown on the official website of Just Dance for a short period of time[citation needed], the coaches, the background, the pictograms and the avatars were inverted in color.

Giddy on Up (Giddy on Out)[]

  • When the menu assets for the remake were first created, the menu icon had slightly darker colors on the coach’s hat and her ruffles. Those parts were lightened in the updated version of the remake, which was finalized in late 2019.
  • The original pictograms from Just Dance 3 were initially used instead of the remade ones.
    • The score tracking files were also reused from Just Dance 3, as proven by this move, which is counted four times rather than twice (as opposed to the finalized version).
  • The lyrics were in a darker shade of blue.[11]

Girlfriend[]

  • Early versions of the coach selection images can be found in the game servers. These unused files depict the coaches in their original color palettes and with clearer facial features.

Gold Dust[]

  • When Gold Dust was first uploaded to the game servers, the pictograms, the lyrics hexadecimal, the Gold Moves placement and the menu assets were retained from Just Dance 4; however, several changes were applied over time.
    • Starting from the URL number "20150814_1338", the coach is more centered in both the menu icon and the coach selection image, and the background in the former is more blurred.
    • After the launch of Just Dance Unlimited, the digit in the "JDVersion" was changed from "0" to "2016".
    • As soon as the routine was officially released in the service, the pictograms were entirely remade, the lyrics color was changed from yellow to purple, the cover replaced the album coach with the coach’s pose from the menu icon and the fading effect was removed from the coach selection image.

Hey Ya![]

  • In the old servers, there is an early pictograms sprite that contains a placeholder and some original pictograms with poorly made edits.

Holiday[]

  • A placeholder pictogram could be found in the pictogram sprite when the files for the routine were first uploaded to the server. After it had been officially released on Just Dance Unlimited, the placeholder file was replaced by an updated pictogram.

Hot N Cold[]

  • As seen in the files, the coach was more similar to the original version, since she had red hair, red gloves and a more reddish dress.

I Love It[]

  • When the files of I Love It were originally uploaded to the old game servers, the original pictograms were used, and the cover featured the coach in her menu square pose and on the far left. In the final release, however, the updated pictograms from Just Dance Unlimited were used, and the cover was updated to feature the coach in her album coach pose and in the middle.

I Want You Back[]

  • Older versions of the Just Dance Now archives feature an early sprite whose pictograms are in default colors.
    • Besides, the pictograms for Gold Moves 2, 3 and 4 are not golden.

Jump[]

  • When Jump was first uploaded to the old game servers, the pictograms consisted of a new set made with the Just Dance 2016 pictogram model; however, upon the release of the map in the game, these were replaced by the set of pictograms from Just Dance Unlimited.

Kids in America[]

  • The remake was meant to have almost completely different graphics, having darker colors and cheering sounds at the beginning instead of a ringing bell; an improved version was released in an unknown date.

Kiss You[]

  • When Kiss You was uploaded to the old game servers, the original pictograms were used; however, they were ultimately replaced by the updated ones from Just Dance Unlimited.

  • In the old game servers, the background in the cover was in a different position.
  • The pictograms and the lyrics hexadecimal were retained from Just Dance 4.[12]

Never Gonna Give You Up[]

    • The cover was also different, as it used the album coach and album background from Just Dance 4.
      • The Just Dance 4 square was seen in the current demo servers before the routine was finally released in the game.[14][15]

Oath[]

  • In the menu image of Oath, P2 had more visible facial features, and her glove was pink and badly textured. As of 20150115_1722, the image has been updated so that the facial features are no longer visible and the glove is blue (as it is in-game).

On the Floor[]

  • When the map was first uploaded to the old servers, the following differences could be noticed:
    • On the cover, the coach and the background were more zoomed in, and the latter was less blurred.

    • The lyrics hexadecimal generated a slightly different shade of yellow (#ffff09 instead of #fefd0e).[16]
      • The song description file also reads "JDVersion: 2016", which means that the map had already received updates upon the launch of Just Dance Unlimited.

One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)[]

  • The pictograms sprite featured in the early game servers featured four placeholder pictograms instead of one.
  • In older game servers, the original menu icon was used; as soon as the map was released in the game, instead, the original icon was replaced with the updated one from Just Dance Unlimited, which removes the glass effect from Just Dance 2014.

Part of Me[]

  • According to the early versions of the game servers, the Just Dance 2014 version of the routine was meant to be used. However, the files were ultimately updated after the launch of Just Dance Unlimited.
    • This is proven by the .json files for the routine: the early ones read "OriginalJDVersion": 5, while the updated one reads "JDVersion": 2016.[17]

Price Tag[]

  • In its early state, the remake was supposed to give the coach more visible facial features and a purple outline instead of a light blue one.

Additionally, the "JDVersion" string reads "2016", implying that some changes had already been applied to the map before the launch of Just Dance Unlimited.
    • The cover was different too, as the coach was placed on the left side and in her menu icon pose, and the background was less blurry and positioned differently.

Promiscuous[]

  • In the old archives, there are Beta menu assets where the coaches’ outline is dark purple and in full opacity instead of fuchsia and faded.
    • Also, in the Beta menu icon and cover, the coaches look poorly extracted, as they have a white outline with some bits cut out.

Proud Mary[]

  • In the early version of the remake, which could be found in the old game servers, the lyrics were more orange than red (as opposed to the finalized release).[20]
    • In addition, the original Just Dance 2 pictograms were used, with some minor changes that involve the repeat of this pictogram three times[21] and the removal of the double arrow head on this pictogram.
  • In the video file found in the old servers, the sound effect of a cheering audience could be heard at the beginning and at the end.[22] This sound effect was removed as soon as the map was released in Just Dance Unlimited.
