Just Dance Wii (also known as ジャストダンスWii) is the first game of the Japanese edition of the Just Dance video game series for the Wii. Released in Japan on October 13, 2011, it is the first official entry for the Just Dance series in the Japanese market.

This edition was published and edited by Nintendo, but developed by Ubisoft Paris as a third-party developer, with the song list featuring popular J-Pop songs for the Japanese audience, as well as ten songs from Just Dance 2, including one DLC, and two songs from the first Just Dance. The game uses the same UI style as Just Dance 2, only with a different color scheme, much like Just Dance: Summer Party. All features from Just Dance 2 also returned, including the "Just Sweat", "Medley", and "Non-Stop Shuffle" modes, with the exception of the online shop. The game also includes a Tutorial Mode, which shows how each mechanic in the game works.

Trivia[]

  • Just Dance Wii is the first Just Dance game not to have a worldwide release.
  • Just Dance Wii is the second Just Dance game, after Just Dance 3, with a track that has to be unlocked, which is Just Mario in this case.
  • Just Dance Wii is the first game in the Just Dance franchise without a song by Katy Perry (the Just Dance Kids and other spin-off games not withstanding).
    • If DLCs are not counted, Just Dance Wii represents the second instance in the series, after Just Dance 2.
  • The songs are all listed in alphabetical order by title if the song sorting is set to Default.
    • If one were to transliterate the titles of the Japanese songs into kana, they would find out that the songs are listed in the kana syllabary's order. The non-Japanese songs that follow are listed alphabetically as well, except for Just Mario, whose position in the list has the purpose of separating the two groups of songs.
    • If the song order is set to Alphabetical, the songs will be listed in order by artist.
  • Just Dance Wii is the second game, after Just Dance 3, in which the Wiimote vibrates when a Gold Move is performed correctly.
  • Just Dance Wii is the first Just Dance game in which the lyrics are highlighted. Lines turn pink if a woman sings them and blue if a man sings them or if a man and a woman sing them together.
    • In the main series, the first game where this happens is Just Dance 3, albeit only on the PlayStation 3.
    • In addition to the lyrics being highlighted a certain color, a male and/or female icon appears to the left of the lyric currently being sung to denote the gender of the singer. The male icon faces left when only it is displayed, and the female icon faces right. When both are displayed together, however, these directions are reversed.
  • Both of the songs by Exile in the game are covers.
  • The Beta silhouette of When I Grow Up appears in the Multiplayer menu, despite the map not being in the game.
  • If the player earns more than 10000 points, the score will be too big to remain into the icon that displays the player’s name and score appear, and it will exceed the boundaries.
    • This happens because of the game font, which is bigger than the one used in Just Dance 2.
  • The Medley and Duet Medley menu icons are recycled from Just Dance 2, although many coaches from them do not appear in the game, for example Big Girl (You Are Beautiful) or the coaches from A-Punk.
  • The icons for Medley, Duet Medley, and Non-stop Shuffle appear on the menu in a different order from the one seen in Just Dance 2.
  • The menu previews for both Medleys are different than those in Just Dance 2: The preview for the Solo Medley uses an audio snippet from Mister, while the one from the Duet Medley uses one from Ren'ai Revolution 21.
  • In the credits, performer Céline Rotsen’s surname is misspelled as "Rotcel".
  • UFO plays in the Tutorial Mode.
  • A string of text which says "Clap hands to play" appears when playing any song in the game, however, one cannot see it normally since it is outside the zone the player can view.[citation needed]
  • The arrow for the pictobar is placed higher up compared to Just Dance 2.
